Welcome to Moray Cottages, the result of an exceptional barn conversion that has created two luxury self catering holiday cottages. Both are equipped to a high standard and both have been awarded a 4 Star rating from Visit Scotland. We also welcome dogs.
These luxury self catering cottages are situated in one of the most glorious locations in Scotland.
Just a mile from Dufftown, which is at the heart of Scotlands Whisky trail, they are approximately half way between Aberdeen & Inverness and make these cottages an ideal holiday base from which to enjoy the host of activities and attractions that abound in Scotland’s North East.
Each cottage has its own separate enclosed garden, ideal for your dog, plus an open fire and fabulous views across the valley towards Auchindoun Castle.
From the Cairngorm National park to the golden beaches of the Moray Coast, there is golfing and fishing, castles and distilleries, not to mention fabulous walking, winter skiing, and outstanding wildlife.
The cottages are almost 1000 feet above sea level, set in a peaceful and totally rural location, with glorious views, surrounded on all sides by fields. Visitors can escape from the noise of modern life.
The cottages have all the comforts of home, including free Wi-Fi and our rates are fully inclusive of electricity, central heating and firewood.
Although you could be miles from civilization, a short drive or walk takes you around to the other side of the hill to the thriving town of Dufftown. Here you will find everything you need; from pubs and restaurants, butcher and two small supermarkets to a petrol station, garage and hospital.... not to mention 7 distilleries including the world famous Glenfiddich Distillery.
As a base for exploring Northern Scotland, Moray has few equals. From the coast with its long golden, almost empty beaches and rocky cliff paths where you can watch Seals and Dolphins, to the Cairngorm national park.
There is superb walking or cycling and each cottage has a barn where you can store bikes, luggage racks etc.
There is skiing at 2 ski centres; great hill walking; some wonderful wildlife to see. You can explore the Castle Trail, follow the worlds only Whisky trail; Play a round of Golf; Go salmon, trout or sea fishing.
Alternatively, just take a well earned break in your own quiet garden.
We are proud to be "Dog Friendly" and we have gone to great efforts to make our cottages as dog friendly as possible.
New garden fence put up in Spring 2016
Each cottage has its own large, secure and fully enclosed garden and when we say "large" we mean large !
In this area there is superb walking for you and your dogs - from wide empty beaches on the coast to deserted forest trails and scenic river walks.
The owners and your hosts, Robert & Fiona McHugh, live in the old farmhouse set away from the cottages but are on hand should you require assistance or information.
We are open ALL YEAR - Why not enjoy a winter break here?
Once you've visited we're sure you will want to return again.... so many of our guests do!
